My Health Habits: Breathing Exercise, Yoga, Celery Juice, Peeled Almonds & Nap

06 SEPTEMBER / 2023 / 11:37

As the saying goes, "health is wealth," and indeed, taking care of our physical and mental well-being is essential for a fulfilling life. As an etiquette coach, I have learned that building great health habits is not just about looking good or feeling good, but it's also about projecting a positive image and maintaining a high level of professionalism.

Over the years, I have developed a set of health habits that have helped me to stay energised, focused, and productive. I'm excited to share some of these habits with you and hope that you'll be inspired to adopt them into your own daily routine. So, let's get started!

Taking Soaked Almonds

Soaking nuts overnight before consuming them has become a popular recommendation by many health experts and even my mum. This technique makes their skin super soft and much easier to peel. It also makes it more voluminous and creamier, which enhances its taste. Soaking nuts overnight also makes it easier to digest and more easily absorbed by the body, thus allowing for efficient nutrient absorption.

As an etiquette coach, I have adopted this healthy habit into my routine, soaking almonds overnight for an afternoon snack or with dinner, and enjoying walnuts with my morning coffee. Kids also tend to enjoy the softer, less bitter taste of soaked nuts. Try this simple and effective method to improve your health today!

Drinking Celery Juice with Lemon and Ice

One health habit that I have incorporated into my routine is drinking celery juice with lemon and ice. I first discovered this drink on Instagram and was intrigued by its many purported benefits. After trying it for myself, I can confidently say that I am a fan. I love the refreshing taste of the celery juice and the added tartness from the lemon. I typically drink it in the afternoon after lunch or after a workout when I need to replenish my electrolytes. I have also noticed that it helps with my digestion and keeps my skin hydrated.

While I haven't experienced significant puffiness in the morning, I have heard from friends who drink it on an empty stomach that it can help with reducing morning puffiness. However, I agree that drinking it after a meal is a better option if you have a sensitive stomach. Overall, I highly recommend trying celery juice with lemon and ice. It's a simple and refreshing drink with many potential health benefits. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Relaxing Breath Technique

One health habit that has made a significant impact on my daily routine is the relaxing breath technique. This breathing technique, taught by Dr. Weil is an easy yet powerful way to calm the body and relieve stress.

The formula is simple: four seconds inhale, seven seconds hold, and eight seconds exhale. I practise this technique with my kids before their nap time, and it helps them fall asleep faster. I also recommend doing it during a short break in the afternoon to calm your body and mind. This technique is easy to practise and has many potential benefits. Give it a try, and you may be surprised by how much it can improve your well-being.

Taking Power Naps

One of my most powerful tools for feeling young, energised, and alive is taking power naps. I practise this habit with my kids in the afternoon, and even a 20 to 30-minute nap can do wonders for my mood, immune system, and brain power. Power naps have been proven to relieve stress, boost mood, and elevate brain power. Many cultures around the world even have special names for nap time, emphasising its importance in daily life.

I have been practising this habit for as long as I can remember, and it has always been a part of my family's routine. Taking a short nap after lunch helps me feel re-energized and ready to tackle the rest of the day. So listen to your body and don't let it get exhausted. Take a short nap and feel the difference it can make in your well-being.

Daily Yoga Exercises

Daily exercise has been a transformational habit for me, even though I used to dislike working out. I started by working out with an instructor twice a week, but I found it challenging to control the amount of time I worked out and the time of day. Then, I discovered the Daily Yoga app, which allowed me to choose workouts from 10 minutes onwards and focus on different areas. This app helped me get started at my own level and control the time I spent working out.

The most important lessons I learned were that you don't need motivation to work out; you need discipline. Dedicate at least 20 minutes every day to exercise, and be consistent with it. It's not about the intensity of the workout; it's about the consistency. Even if you only work out for 15 minutes a day, imagine how much you will have accomplished in a year. So, discipline and consistency are the most important things when it comes to exercise.
