Discover the Self-Care Habits of an Etiquette Coach: Guide to Achieving Balance in Life

21 AUGUST / 2023 / 15:00

Recently, I received a few messages from individuals asking for tips on how to take care of themselves both physically and mentally. It got me thinking about the importance of self-care and how we often neglect taking care of ourselves in the hustle and bustle of our daily lives.

That's why in today's article, I'll be sharing four self-care habits that I personally do as an etiquette coach for my body, mind, and soul. These habits have helped me maintain a healthy balance and I hope they can help you too.

So, let's dive in!

The Power of Rose Hip Tea

One of my favourite self-care habits is drinking rose hip tea every day. Rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, and no caffeine, it's perfect for all ages. Rose hip tea rejuvenates the skin, fights inflammation and pain, especially during menstrual cramps. Though it has a sour taste, it's worth getting used to.

However, it can cause frequent urination, so it's best not to consume it before bedtime. Personally, I love to prepare it overnight, dilute it with boiling water, and enjoy it in the afternoon or after lunch. Incorporating rose hip tea into your daily routine is an easy and effective way to support your overall health.

Using Homemade Coffee Bean Body Scrub

Creating a homemade body scrub from my morning coffee beans is one of my favourite self-care routines. The process is simple, cost-effective, and provides a bit of relaxation during my morning routine.

After brewing my coffee, I remove the wet coffee beans from the filter paper and lay them onto a plate. I make sure to empty them all out to avoid waste since I will use them for the scrub. I air dry the wet coffee beans for a day or two, depending on how quickly they dry.

To make the scrub, I mix the dry coffee beans with either salt or sugar, depending on my preference. I usually opt for a coarser salt for a more intense exfoliation. I also add in almond or coconut oil or honey to create a paste-like consistency.

Applying the scrub to my body before showering is a real treat. It leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth. The fragrant, natural, and effective body scrub is a pampering self-carehabit that provides a spa-like experience right at home. With good quality coffee beans, salt or sugar, and oil, this homemade version is far superior to store-bought scrubs.

Writing Out Quotes to Build My Mind

Writing out quotes early in the morning has become a powerful self-care habit for my mind. Each day, I take 10 to 15 minutes to read through quotes from various sources and write down the ones that speak to me. This practice helps me to cultivate mindfulness and presence, which is beneficial for my mental health.

Writing out quotes has also improved my communication skills, as quotes are typically brief yet powerful messages that convey important ideas and lessons. Additionally, reflecting on why a quote resonates with me has helped me to develop greater self-awareness and better understand my thoughts and emotions.

This practice has also inspired me to take positive action towards my goals, as I am motivated by the wisdom and insights that I collect from the quotes. Overall, writing out quotes in the morning is a simple and effective way to care for my mind and soul, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a meaningful self-care practice.

Dedicating An Hour Each Day To Myself

One of my self-care habits for my soul is dedicating an hour each day to doing whatever I want. In a world that emphasises productivity, it's easy to forget that it's important to feed our souls. Taking an hour each day to do something that brings me joy helps me prioritise my own needs and desires.

Before making this a routine, I used to feel guilty about doing things just for fun because I thought every hour should be productive. But, allowing myself to do something that brings me joy for an hour each day has helped me to organise my time and be more productive in other areas of my life.
